Inconel 600 sheet is a high-performance nickel-chromium-iron alloy known for its outstanding resistance to oxidation, corrosion, and high-temperature environments. Material Overview

Inconel 600 (UNS N06600) is a nickel-based superalloy with a carefully balanced composition to provide remarkable resistance to both high-temperature oxidation and aqueous corrosion.

Chemical Composition:

  • Nickel (Ni): 72% minimum

  • Chromium (Cr): 14-17%

  • Iron (Fe): 6-10%

  • Carbon (C): 0.15% max

  • Manganese (Mn): 1.00% max

  • Silicon (Si): 0.50% max

  • Sulfur (S): 0.015% max

  • Copper (Cu): 0.50% max

This unique composition makes Inconel 600 sheets highly resistant to oxidation, stress corrosion cracking, and carburization.

Manufacturing Process

The production of Inconel 600 sheets involves a meticulous process to ensure high-quality performance in extreme environments.

  1. Melting & Alloying: The raw materials are melted in a vacuum induction furnace (VIM) or electric arc furnace (EAF) to ensure precise composition.

  2. Hot Rolling: The alloy is processed through high-temperature rolling to achieve the desired thickness.

  3. Annealing: To enhance ductility and remove internal stresses, sheets undergo controlled heat treatment.

  4. Pickling & Surface Finishing: Acid pickling is used to remove scale, followed by polishing or brushing for smooth surface finishing.

  5. Quality Control & Testing: Each sheet undergoes rigorous testing for mechanical properties, corrosion resistance, and dimensional accuracy.
