Introduction
Monel K500 is a high-performance nickel-copper alloy that combines the outstanding corrosion resistance of Monel 400 with greater strength and hardness. This enhancement is achieved through the addition of aluminum and titanium, followed by an age-hardening process. As a result, Monel K500 rods are ideal for applications that demand durability under extreme pressure and temperature conditions.
Material Composition & Properties
Monel K500 consists primarily of nickel (63% minimum) and copper (27-33%), with small amounts of aluminum (2.3-3.15%), titanium (0.35-0.85%), iron (2% max), and manganese (1.5% max). The alloy exhibits excellent resistance to seawater, hydrofluoric acid, and alkaline environments. It also maintains its mechanical properties across a wide temperature range, from sub-zero to over 480°C (900°F).
